Alternate installation if you can't access MS AppSource or don't have permissions to Word Add-ins or Plug-ins

Please note that these instructions are only for Windows users.

  1. Request the referenced XML manifest file below and put it into a new "woodpecker" folder on your desktop. Please reach out to request this file.

  2. Navigate to inside the "woodpecker" folder and right click in the whitespace next to the manifest file to get a list of options, at the bottom you'll see "Properties", click "Properties".

3. Navigate to the "Sharing" tab and select/copy the "Network Path"

4. Open Word, navigate to "File" → "Options" → "Trust Center" → "Trust Center Settings"

5. Select "Trusted Add-in Catalogs"

6. Paste the network path that you copied from before into the "Catalog Url" input box and click "Add catalog"

7. You'll get a new line item for the add-in, make sure to click the "Show in menu" checkboxClick "Ok" on all the popups until they all close.

8. Restart Word.

9. Navigate to the "Insert" tab → "My add-ins" → "SHARED FOLDER", select Woodpecker and click "Add"

10. The add-in should get added to the Home tab and should stay there when you close/open Word again
